You have heard the saying – the early bird gets the worm. Many ‘successful’ individuals swear by waking up earlier. When you wake up early, as people are still sleeping, you can: a) accomplish more, b) face less interruptions, c) mentally prime yourself for success, and as a result of all of these things d) feel invigorated.
So how do you go about waking up earlier? This should be a gradual process. Much like dieting and exercise, don’t expect to be able to accomplish right from the start. If you usually wake up at 7:30am. Try one week waking up at 7:15am. If you can accomplish this without much difficulty, try 7:00am the next week, and 6:45am the week after that, then 6:30am and so on. Remember being able to wake up early for one day is easy, waking up early for the next 10 years requires dedication and perseverance. However, once you get a taste of everything you can accomplish by waking up a little earlier, you will eventually rewire your brain and this will just be another healthy habit you possess.
Remember life is not a sprint, but a marathon. Be patient. Good things will follow.
